Volume 1 of a celebration of the pioneering solo cartoon work of Ub Iwerks, Walt Disney's foremost animator/collaborator. Includes "All Singing! All Dancing!," "Willie Whopper's Fantastic Adventures" and "Free-Form Fairy Tales."

Most of you may vaguely recall hearing about Flip the Frog, but I doubt you'll remember Willie the Whopper or The Pin Cushion Man in Balloon Land.

These are all creations by Ub Iwerks the man who animated just about all of the first Mickey Mouse cartoon back in 1928 Plane Crazy. Iwerks was the guy who created the technology to allow for the combination of animation and live action that Disney used in The Three Caballeros. Song of the South and of course Mary Poppins.

What many don't know is that Iwerks left Disney in the 1930s to have a career making his own cartoons and characters and developing innovative technologies.

58 cartoon makes up this 2 disc DVD collection and there are a dozen or so superb cartoon shorts to be found here and another dozen or so that are worth watching over and over again. The rest aren't on the same level as the others, but you'll find plenty of sequences that will surpise and delight you.

Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks were friends and co-workers in Kansas City and in 1922, Iwerks was one of the first people Disney hired when he started his company and he moved to California with Disney in 1924.

Discover Flip the Frog and the even better Willie the Whopper cartoons. Enjoy the color cartoons that Iwerks created, some of which like Balloon Land are quite imaginative and fun.
