Andrew Morris releases his new EP Longbeach. Hotly Tipped' by Itunes in
2008, Andrew has been going from strength to strength this year and his
latest EP is a captivating mix of song writing. A new breed of
singer/songwriter, Andrew Morris is no stranger to being regularly
hailed as a new generation David Gray
Born in Australia, his parents packed up the Australian dream and moved
to the UK when Andrew was nine years of age. Growing up in London and
going on to study Law, writing and playing in bands and on his own in
the capital, it's been an interesting journey this far
Morris pursued a successful career as a criminal lawyer spending his
days representing defendants in court as well as continuing with his
musical aspirations to the full, he quickly became a regular on the
established London circuit. An opposite life to that of a gigging
musician, but they say that sometimes opposite's attract. One of his
songs ' Innocent' was written about a prisoner he represented who told
him that all clients sometimes tell their lawyers they are not guilty
only to confess to all their crimes with fellow prisoners
After playing in a band called MOZ for two years and going solo for
another year, 2007 saw Andrew Morris release his first 6 track solo EP
Upside Down. This was immediately 'Hotly Tipped' by Itunes along with
Duffy, Adele and the Ting Tings. Off the back of this he won support
slots for Marillion and a live TV appearance on Sky
Following this were three performances at Glastonbury in 2008 and
winning the Playmusic Award best Solo Artist 2008, going on to support
Marillion a second time in 2009 for their European tour. His second EP
Longbeach is now attracting critical acclaim, taking Morris in a new
direction, with a new band and full of driving pop melodies.
