Summary: Inspired by a real-life behavioral scientist, Dr. Paul Ekman, who has the capability to find the truth just by reading clues within a face, body and voice. This FOX drama tells the tale of a deception expert who helps uncover the truth for the FBI, local police, law firms, corporations, and individuals. Dr. Cal Lightman and his team are effectively human polygraph machines, and no truth can be concealed from them. The Lightman Group is headed by Dr. Cal Lightman and his partner Dr. Gillian Foster who is a gifted psychologist. She brings balance to the partnership by thinking about the overall picture while Lightman focuses on the details. Together they make an invincible team with insight into human behavior. Eli Loker is the lead researcher, who believes in radical honesty. He often gets in trouble for saying what he thinks. Ria Torres is one of the few "naturals" in the field of deception detection. She has an untapped ability to read people that makes her a force to be reckoned with the right training.

1. Season 1, Ep 1: Pilot
The son of a family of devout Jehovah’s Witnesses is accused of killing his teacher after being caught fleeing the scene of her murder.
The compelling new drama from the producers of 24, stars Tim Roth ("The Incredible Hulk," "Reservoir Dogs") as DR. CAL LIGHTMAN, the world's leading deception expert who studies facial expressions and involuntary body language to discover not only if someone is lying, but why. When someone shrugs one shoulder, rotates a hand or raises the lower lip, Lightman knows he's lying.
Based on the real-life scientific discoveries of Paul Ekman, the series follows Lightman and his team of deception experts as they assist law enforcement and government agencies to expose the truth behind the lies.
The series opener begins with a case brought to the Lightman Agency concerning a teenage boy accused of murdering one of his teachers. The States Attorney wants to try the teen as an adult, but the mayor calls in Lightman and crew to determine if the boy is guilty before he'll sign off. Lightman and his partner quickly discover that the boy is lying about something, but he's telling the truth when he denies committing murder. Their investigation continues and of course the team exposes the true killer in the end. There is a subplot involving a politician embroiled in a sex scandal.

2. Season 1, Ep 2: Moral Waiver
When a commanding officer of an important military unit is accused of a sexual assault on his commanding offer Dr. Lightman and Ria are called in to investigate and find out if the accusation is true before he is shipped back to Afghanistan. Will Lightman be able to find the truth before he is back out of the country and putting more lives in danger? Meanwhile Gillian and Eli look into whether a college basketball star took a bribe from a wealthy benefactor of the university in which he plays.
