His name is Adam Goldberg when hes writing, directing, producing, editing or
acting in a film, but when hes making the kind of sublimely trippy dreampop
heard on "Eros and Omissions, call him LANDy.
Six years in the making, the LANDy debut was written and recorded in New
York, Los Angeles and Norman with a little help from Earlimarts Aaron
Espinoza, the Los Angeles group Black Pine and multi-instrumentalist Steven
Drozd of the Flaming Lips, whom Goldberg met backstage at one of the bands
2002 shows. The two have since become friends and musical collaborators,
co-writing the music for Goldbergs 2005 film "I Love Your Work, and
Goldberg even found time to appear in the Lips film "Christmas on Mars
while recording with Drozd in Norman.
Between film and TV projects ("Entourage, "The Unusuals), Goldberg/LANDy
has managed on guitar, keyboards, drums and other instruments to assemble a
sonic collage rich and varied in texture and mood, from the deceptively sunny
"To No One in Particular and the hushed and haunting, John Lennon-esque
piano ballad "Apology 2, to the orchestral melancholy of "Every Time Its
Over and the sonically cinematic intrigue of "Anniversary.
Like Wayne Coyne has said, with music like this, "who needs psychiatrists?
